Welcome to the Telstra Country Wide Telemetry Demonstration Site

Telemetry is automatic remote measurement of data to a host or recording device. This also includes control of devices such as opening farm gates, controlling generators. Remote communications and reliability are enabled by Telstra's NextG mobile network.

Telstra's Telemetry platform lends itself to a wide variety of applications such as water management, farm monitoring & control and security systems. These typically range from single installations to collections of networked remote terminal unit (RTU) equipment. Unlike many propriety telemetry systems, Telstra's platform offers a scalable managed service that liberates the end user from the costs incurred with physical Telemetry and Information Technology systems.

This is a pilot site for hosting Telemetry services on an open architecture platform. Its intent is to offer simple connectivity and interoperability of remote equipment.

Access to the control and monitoring operation of this equipment can be done via the internet using a web browser and via SMS text messaging. Access is near real-time and multiple remote monitoring connections are permitted on the platform. Historical data logging is also provided as a service.

The remote farm gate, fan, temperature and camera demonstration comprise a fixed RTU located at TRL in Clayton, Victoria. There are several portable network camera and Scadapack demonstration RTU kits available for short term loan. If required, please contact TRL Telemetry to discuss your loan requirements.

System Requirements

For lookout telemetry applications, the following system requirements MUST be satisfied before accessing the telemetry demonstrations. Not doing so will result in unpredictable operation occurring.
